Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

A. Yes, we absolutely travel to your location for your special day! There is no travel fee within 30 miles of our business location, 131 Georgetown Green, Charlottesville VA 22901. Outside of 30 miles, we charge $1.50 per mile, per artist, one way only.
Q: What are your Covid-19 protocols?
A: We take the health of your party seriously, as well as that of our team. During Covid and at ALL times, sanitation and cleanliness are a top priority. Our safety measures include the following:
- Masks worn by our Artists when requested
- Disinfection of kit, products and brushes. Each person will have a separately bagged set of disinfected brushes to prevent cross-contamination.
- Disposable mascara and lip wands, never double dipped. We use a fresh wand for each dipped application.
- All cream products are scooped onto a stainless steel palette and then applied, never double dipping!
- Hair brushes and tools sprayed with Barbicide disinfectant between each client.
- We are Barbicide certified.
Q: Can you match all skin tones?
A: Absolutely! We have makeup shades suitable for every skin tone, from the very lightest to the deepest. There is never a need for you to bring your own shade.
Q: Can you accommodate different hair textures?
A: Yes! Our artists are proficient in every hair texture, type and length.
Q: Are you LGTBQIA inclusive?
A: Absolutely, we are anti-discrimination and all inclusive.
Q: Why does the bride cost more than everyone else?
A: While we put the same effort into each person’s hair and makeup, the amount of time that we put into each person is not the same. The Bridal rate covers not only extended time doing the bride’s makeup, but also the administrative work and time leading up to the day of. That includes emails, phone calls, planning, contract negotiations, set up and break down on the day of, product costs and a special lip touchup kit for the bride!
Q: Do you offer hair extension services?
A: Yes! We ask that the bride provide pre-matched clip-in hair extensions which we are happy to apply on the day of for an extra fee.
Q: Do you offer trials? And why do I need one?
A: We absolutely offer trials! Trials can be crucial for the Artists to familiarize themselves with your hair and skin type. This is where we perfect your dream bridal vision and ensure your look comes together seamlessly on your wedding day, including crafting a cohesive look for you and your bridal party. We will address any skin care recommendations and map out your hair care and skin care plan prior to your wedding. We recommend having your trial 8 weeks before your wedding day. Trials are held in our studio Mondays-Fridays by appointment.
Q: What brands do you use?
A: Our Artists use only the highest quality skincare, makeup, and hair brands. Many of these are professional grade brands that cannot be bought in stores and are designed for super long wear and Hi-Definition photography. Some of our brands include Graftobian, MAC, Laura Mercier, Charlotte Tilbury, Chanel, Schwarzkopf, Marc Jacobs, Olaplex, Kenra, Viseart Cosmetics, and many many more.
Q: Are your products good for someone with sensitive skin?
A: The brands we choose are designed to work with all skins and especially sensitive skin types. We also use products that are non-comedogenic (pore clogging). We try to provide cruelty free products as much as possible.
Q: My friend likes to do makeup, can she do some of the wedding party? Or, I found a really cheap artist online. Should I hire them?
A: We recommend that for your most special day, you stick with the professionals. Not only can we ensure that the bridal party looks completely cohesive in real life and in pictures, but that everyone will look their best and everyone is safe. Professional application ensures that your hair and makeup will last all day and night. We choose makeups that are designed not to interfere with the camera flash (known as flashback) and that are safe for all skin types. We can guarantee that all brushes, tools, and products are clean and sanitized.
Going with a friend or a cheaper artist can mean inexperience, inferior products, lack of sanitation, using the same brushes or Beauty Blender sponges on everyone, not having a contract in place, possible no-shows, double dipping mascaras or lip products.
We always tell our clients that the flowers die, the invitations get thrown in the trash, people forget the food…but the wedding pictures of you will last a lifetime and for generations to come. Don’t cut costs on your look for the most important day of your life!
Q: How do I book?
A: Services are booked on a first come, first reserve basis. In order to reserve your date, we require a signed agreement and a retainer (50% of the full agreement amount). Services booked within four weeks of the event date require payment in full. Once both the signed agreement and retainer are received, your date will be reserved. The retainer is non-refundable and non-transferrable to another service. Inquiries and trials alone do not reserve your date, and due to our demand, we are unable to inform brides when other inquiries are made about their date. In order to secure services, we recommend reserving your date as early as possible!
